Samsung Beat Apple in Smartphone Market
Samsung has reportedly overtook Apple's position as the world's largest smartphone vendor. This happened in Q3 2011, the period between July and September.
According to sources quoted by media related to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung shipped 20 million units of smartphones during the quarter. While in its financial statements, Apple sold 17.07 million units expressed smartphones.
Jong-kyun Shin as President of Samsung Mobile Division confirmed this news. "I think the number that shipped more than 20 million units," he said.
The new Samsung will officially announce the company's financial statements in the coming week. But some analysts believe Apple Samsung has indeed been conquered for the first time and become the largest smart phone manufacturer.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Friday (21/10/2011), Samsung's success can not be separated from several popular brands of Android handsets. Especially Galaxy S II which until now has sold around 10 million units.
Overall, Nokia is still the largest cellphone vendors globally. Although in the smartphone segment is keteteran, Nokia still sells a lot of phones in the lower middle segment or feature phone.
